instagram #ootd

I have been super busy with a ton of different things lately that sometimes my blog only gets attention 3 times a week, but my instagram usually gets more attention.  I've become obsessed with thrifting lately, I think I need to put myself on a budget or no spending for a period of time.  I think the budget sounds better then not spending for a period of time.  But I wanted to share some of my latest finds and how I've been styling them.  If your not following me on instagram go start now!

This was yesterdays look.  I felt like I needed to bring spring into my life plus I really wanted an excuse to wear these bright pink pants which was a find lately.  The purse, sweater, pants, and one of the button ups were thrift finds.

The other day I came across this Dooney & Bourke bag and took it to Nordstroms right away to see if its authentic. Which they say it is. I will have to check with a real dealer when I am near one but at the time being I will take Nordstroms word for it, Yeah!!

Heels on a Swing

I can't get enough of my thrift finds. I find it to be a sport. I love just going and digging through these stores. Weird considering that I use to hate digging through stores like Ross and TJ Maxx. I guess when you start to grow up your likes and dislikes change.

I think I was having a little to much fun with this post and swinging around.

Sweater: Banana Republic (similar)
Pants: DVF (similar)
Shoes: Mossimo (Target) (similar)
Sunglasses: Chanel (same seen on fashion blogger)

Dolphin Swim, Mexico

I have mixed feelings about dolphin swims. I have always wanted to swim with the dolphins but I also find it cruel to the animals that they are trapped and forced to play with humans.  I guess I finally gave into my craving side of being beside these amazing creatures and forced my husband to tag along. He is starting to learn that a happy wife is a happy life. Atiana is an amazing dolphin and her boyfriend kept coming to join the fun.  It was amazing to be able to touch these creatures and to learn so much about them.  They are such a playful bunch.  I have done the swim with the dolphins once though and I don't know if I would do it again. Not because it wasn't fun because it was. More so because I had mixed feelings about supporting these dolphin swims in the first place. So I will let that 1 time last me forever!

Spring colors

I have never done an outfit post but I thought it was time that I showcase some of my thrift finds. The weather was gorgeous in Utah today so I thought it was perfect to bust out some longer shorts and pastels.  My two kitties came out to see what I was up to as well.  The jacket, sweater, and shorts were thrift finds.

Tulum

I have heard great things about Tulum and was really looking forward to going. I didn't want to do a full day excursion which would have been Chichen Itza but I still wanted to get some history and explore some ruins.  What better excuse then to go to Tulum.  Plus they have amazing beaches all around.  Once we checked into the hotel and talked to our guest services they informed us that since we were VIP Tulum was included at no additional cost. How could we turn that down.

(This shirt was thrifted, as seen on my instagram)

The tour guide was fabulous, he really knew his information and was pretty entertaining on the ride down there as well.  I am glad that the first time we did Tulum was with a guide but if I was to return again I would want to go down on my own time and leisure.  The beach was gorgeous and the water was so blue that I really wanted to head down to the beach.  I felt the pressure of returning to our tour bus though, with only 30 minutes left over I didn't feel that was enough time to get down there and enjoy it.  Next time will be different but for my first time down to Tulum I am glad that it was with a tour guide.

Just look at the gorgeous white sand and blue water.

The iguanas were everywhere.  They had taken over the ruins and were sunbathing on top of them all.  I have a weird obsession with iguanas, I blame my brother since growing up we had 2. My husband was making fun of me because I took a picture of almost every iguana I saw and thought would turn out decent. I will only post 1 to spare you all though.

We found this liquor to be pretty funny. On the way home from the tour they tried selling everyone bottles with their picture on them.  We didn't end up buying it but I made sure to take a few pictures of the bottle first and me holding it up.  Anything to make some extra money off the tourist.

A Goal Accomplished- Cancun Mexico, Moon Palace

As I had written earlier about my goals for the year I mentioned traveling to a foreign country. I can now officially mark that off the list. It feels good to mark off one of my goals so early in the year. I have been to Mexico before but never to Cancun and I don't know if I can really count crossing the border and spending a day here and there as going to Mexico. (I went to college in Texas and would cross the border to go to dinner and bars).

My husband and I never officially took a honeymoon.  We had a destination wedding in Montana and ended up staying an extra week. I guess you could say that was our honeymoon but there is nothing romantic about being surrounding by both of our families.  Then once we got home we ended up buying a house 3 months after our wedding. As all homeowners know you become house broke very quick.  Now I love to travel and will travel to places without my husband if he really doesn't want to go (Honduras), but I thought I had to win him over with an amazing vacation so he would get the travel bug like I have.  I thought what better place then Cancun, Mexico. It is a touristy destination, I had never been before, we could do all inclusive which he would feel more comfortable about and I had never done that either, we could finally go on a belated honeymoon, and we could celebrate his 30th birthday while out there. Originally we had invited a lot of friends but no one would commit to the trip, hence why it turned into a belated honeymoon as well.  Plus I think it could count as a romantic valentines day present to each other since we left right after Valentines day.

Lets just say I think he might have caught the travel bug as well.  He had a hard time leaving Mexico and was already wanting to plan a trip before ours was officially over.  I am so excited for our adventures together in the future.  You will have to stay tuned to the blog to hear about our adventures in Cancun. (I can't wait to share..... and plan another trip, thats half the fun).
