Failed dinners

Well my attempt at cooking has failed me twice today. I don't know if I am having one of those moments or I am just a horrible cook. I think its the later. I have always felt more comfortable baking instead of cooking but tried telling myself if I was good at one then I should be able to pick up the other easily. I think not. I should have posted pictures of my disaster but I'm embarrassed to even say what foods I have overcooked, undercooked, and just plain bland.

Lets just say that I messed up one meal by totally burning the main ingredient before even cooking the rest of meal the burnt ingredients went inside so I decided I could save dinner by quickly cooking something easy before my husband got home. I got caught red handed in a smokey smelly kitchen.  He was so sweet about it as I attempted to quickly throw together something else that turned up undercooked and the other part bland. My husband was sweet enough to scarf down all the rice that was crunchy and tell me that it was very tasty as I about came to tears over 2 ruined meals in one night. Bless his heart. I have sworn off cooking for a while. Luckily my husband will be out of town for a while so I can really do that. I hate giving up so I know I will be back in the kitchen come the weekend once he's back home, but until then I can spoil myself with take out.

Wedding Set Up

I finally got the professional pictures last night. Here is what the actual event looked like. Later on I will post pictures during the event.

Something that was really important to me was the small details. My mom has tons of plates and they are all gorgeous. I wanted the feel of a country wedding since we were up in Montana and I used all my moms plates so that every setting was different then the ones beside them.

Arch where we got married and Todd and I's head table was set in front of this as well

This held the sign-in book, the favors which were my mom's homemade caramels, and gifts for the kids to entertain them through out the wedding.

Thank you gifts

The ring pillow and rings

Another table setting

Prime Rib, Jerk chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, and mixed seasonal vegetables

These were placed down the isle and placed for decoration afterwards

Our rings

Once it started getting dark the candles had an amazing effect

We had fireworks at the end of the reception

My dad and his friend went all out for this

Bridals

BRIDALS!!!

something neat about the invites. They were designed and also handmade by my family. My mom put everything together along with sewing and creating these fabulous invites while I was in Europe. Thank you mom. My brother painted the piece of Echo Lake so that we tied in the location of the wedding. It had my handwriting on the invites along with the heart and the banner. Loved how they turned out!

Europe Ends

I said goodbye to Elyse and I have a night alone. Its not that fun to wonder a city alone and eat dinner alone but getting gelato is still fun alone. Woke up early and headed to the airport and almost cried the whole way. I have such mixed feelings. I want to see my fiance and my family but I don't want to leave. I love it over here and have bonded with my new E-unit. Going back to reality just seems so depressing. I also realized that gelato just isn't as good in the states and especially in Utah as it is over there. Then I realized that I wasn't going to have gelato today, luckily the airline provided that for me. Every day in Italy I had gelato.

Last days in Rome

Everyone left but Elyse and I and I am so glad she is the one I am here with. We both have the same idea of fun. After 6 weeks of craziness we just wanted a lazy day of sleeping. Yup we are in Rome and we just want to sleep and we did. We woke up and got our breakfast and crawled back into bed, I think til like 2 and we decided we better head out to get lunch and dinner, plus we need our gelato for the day. We decided to make it to a cafe across from the Colosseum, you can't really beat that view and the food wasn't bad either.

My favorite gelato place and its just down the street from our bed and breakfast.

Rome day #2

Today was another packed day. Since there were riots going on at the Pantheon yesterday and we didn't get to go in during our tour we made an effort to make it there first today. Then we headed to our Vatican tour which I highly recommend. Your able to pass the huge lines and hear things you might not already know. After we walked around town and found a nice place for our last dinner together as a family since everyone but Elyse and I are leaving to different parts of Europe. Yes I cried at our goodbyes and hugged everyone like 18 times each.

Pantheon

Scary and inside the pantheon, these were everywhere.

I'm getting excited, we are almost at the Vatican.

I love the ceilings if you can't tell. Gorgeous.

Loved how this turned out! haha total accident but its cool.
